The Association endeavours to provide two trade awareness courses per year. These courses can only be run with the generous support of host companies and members of the Executive Committee who give up their time to act as chaperones.
The first course of the year was to the Port of Rotterdam and the ADM crushing plant. On the 16th March 2016 nine delegates and two chaperones met at the North Sea Ferries Terminal for an overnight crossing to Rotterdam. Having disembarked from one vessel the group then spent the morning having a guided tour around the Port of Rotterdam on a luxury boat. The afternoon was spent at the ADM plant where the delegates got a guided tour of the site before returning to the ferry terminal for the overnight journey back to Hull.
The feedback from delegates was extremely positive with everyone enjoying the course and rating it as “Excellent”. When asked for the opinions or highlights of the course? Answers included “I thought the boat trip was excellent, a good way to see the Port”. “Great tour of the docks very informative and great hosts.”
The second course of the year is now fully booked, it is a long overdue visit to lovely North Yorkshire. It provides a mixture of visits to include some animal feed manufacturers and blenders, an organic farm and anaerobic digester unit as well as one of the local breweries based in the pretty village of Masham.
We always seek feedback from our courses for different ideas and ways to improve the courses. We are aware that it is sometimes frustrating when courses book up quickly but taking everything into consideration including health and safety issues we feel the maximum capacity we can have on these courses in between twelve and fourteen delegates.
Full details of the 2017 courses will be updated shortly and as always we would recommend booking early to secure place(s).
