The Association initially joined forces with Yorkshire Corn Trade Golf Society in 1988 to host an Annual Golf AM/AM and in 2007 the “shotgun” format was adopted. The Yorkshire Corn Trade Golf Society has since disbanded so the tournament is now run solely by the Association. Historically, the weather has always been kind to the tournament with it only raining once in the last nine years.
The 2016 tournament was held on Thursday 12th May 2016 at Brough Golf Club. This tournament is open to anyone and congratulations go to the team from Humberside Aggregates who were this year’s overall winners. The Association awards its own trophy to the highest placed Association member who this year was a team from Yorkshire Shipping Ltd, they also came 2nd overall in the competition. It was a lovely sunny afternoon, although on certain parts of the course there was a keen breeze which added another dimension for the golfers.
Once ensconced back in the clubhouse the seventeen teams that played enjoyed a hearty two-course meal and the prize giving. The Association also raised £780 from a raffle and donations and this money was then topped up by the Association to £1,000 and donated to a local children’s charity in Hull called KIDS who work with disabled children, young people and their families.
The Golf Sub-Committee would like to extend their thanks to everyone who entered a team and the generosity of players in supporting our raffle. Read more about this years tournament on our News page.
Full details of the 2017 tournament will be made available shortly.
