Annual Golf Tournament

After the cancellation of the 2020 event and the postponement of the 2021 event the Annual Golf Tournament finally took place on Thursday 29th July.  In a week that brought mixed weather and flash flooding we were lucky to have a dry and mostly sunny day on which to hold our first fund raising event for almost 2 years which we are delighted to say was once again a great success.

To give us the best chance of holding the competition with the ongoing uncertainties, the usual shotgun start was changed to set tee times and an ongoing barbeque replaced the usual sit down post tournament meal. With sixteen teams taking part, numbers were only slightly down on the previous event and everyone appeared to have an enjoyable, if not entirely successful afternoon.

Our thanks go to all the club staff for ensuring that the course was in such good condition and for Wes and his team for providing such delicious food over several hours.

Unfortunately, the absence of a massed gathering at the end of play meant that a formal prize giving was not possible.  The majority of the successful participants had left by the time Executive Committee member Mark Woodall presented a cheque to Claire Crosby from the Hull branch of the children’s charity KIDS, www.kids.org.uk/yorkshire-humber, thanks to the generous support of the raffle and golf entry donations.

The overall winners of the tournament, the team from Unigloves UK, were still on site and were duly presented with their prizes. With a winning score of 94, congratulations go to Paul Gibbons, Andrew Roantree, Ian Grey and Alan Colquhoun

The runners up where the team from Eric Lusby Properties with a score of 89. Well done Eric Lusby, Brian Hancock, Matthew Hancock and Jerry Neilson.

Third place went to Mike Krebbs, Tim Harding, Bill Wilcox and Steve Mews from Ferriby Recycling who scored 86.

The HCFTA trophy, which is presented to the highest placed member of the Association was won this year by the team from Thomas Mawer Ltd, Rob Mackay, Jonathan Stansfield, Ash Burdock and Charlie I’Anson.
