It is a great delight to report that the Association’s 2019 Golf Tournament was, yet again, a great success.
As all 17 teams eagerly waited for the claxon to sound at 1.30pm, there was barely a cloud in the sky and a gentle breeze to keep from being too hot, a pleasant afternoon’s golf was had by all. The course looked very well and thanks to the groundsmen who work hard to keep it playing so well.
Think it is fair to say, not all teams returned to the clubhouse quite so enthusiastically as they left, but that is the nature of the game (apparently). After a delicious two-course meal all disappointments were soon forgotten. Big thanks to Wes and his catering team for the excellent food and prompt service not only after the game, but he kindly sponsored the bacon sandwiches and coffee at lunch-time too.
Tom Windscheffel, the Association’s President started of the formal proceedings by thanking everyone for supporting the golf tournament, especially the host companies. He also wanted to thank the golf club, caterers, grounds-men and Pro Shop for ensuring the event went well.
Tom presented a cheque to Claire Crosby from the Hull branch of the children’s charity KIDS thanks to the generous support the golfers had given to the raffle along with a kind golf entry fee donation. The overall winners of the tournament, was a team from Staffcall UK Ltd with a winning score of 82. Unfortunately, the team members had to disappear due to family and work issues so where unable to collect their prizes in person, but congratulations to Dan Digby, Andy Bradley, Phil Ward and David Milner.
For the second year on the trot, the runners up where the team from Thames Valley Cambac Ltd with a score of 79 and as they are members of the Association, the winners of the HCFTA trophy. Well done Mark Woodall, Jon Shaw, Joe Dewhirst and Rob Beckett.
Third place went to Chris McFadden, James Thomson, Neil Thomson and David Curry from E D & F Man Liquid Products Ltd who scored 79 as well, but Thames Valley Cambac had the best back nine, so were placed higher.
